ATHENS, TX – August 17, 2023 – Dorsey is proud to announce the opening of a new Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers, its second of many, in East Texas. The new restaurant, located in the city of Athens on the corner of Flat Creek Road and Mary Beth Lane, offers a convenient option for steakburgers and frozen custard.   Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers is an American chain of fast casual restaurants originally founded in 2002 in Kansas.  The brand has grown to 35 states with approaching 500 locations.  The menu includes steakburgers, Vienna Beef hot dogs, and chicken sandwiches, and a variety of milkshakes and sundaes.

This Freddy’s is situated about thirty miles east of Tyler, Texas, the closest metropolitan area. The city of Athens is near the growing expansion of Tyler and its economy.  There is great access to highways; State Highway 31 runs northeast of Waco via Athens.  The highway passes Athens on Loop 7; along with Highway 31 and overlaps US 175 and around SH 19 in Athens.  In simpler terms, Loop 7 provides great visibility and access and serves as a beltway around Athens.  Nominal new development and moderate renovation and redevelopment is occurring throughout the neighborhood.  The new Freddy’s site is located within a major retail/QSR corridor containing national operators such as Wal-Mart, Whataburger, Tractor Supply, Popeyes, Sonic Drive-In, AutoZone, Walgreens, CVS, McDonald’s, Starbucks, Taco Bell, and much more.
