CUT OFF, LA – July 10, 2023 – Located in the southernmost region of Louisiana along the gulf coast, the city of Cut Off took a near direct impact from Hurricane Ida in late 2021, devastating the entire community. The main retail center located in the center of town, the Tarpon Heights Shopping Center, sustained significant damage from the storm causing all the tenants to vacate.

Dorsey Development, which has experience rehabilitating retail centers, recognized an opportunity to help revitalize the community of Cut Off. Dorsey took the risk, acquiring the vacant shopping center and began to renovate the property by replacing the roof, rebuilding the façade, and reworking individual suites with the intention of re-tenanting the entire building. So far, Dorsey has signed lease agreements with: Dollar General, a national dollar store; El Viejon, a local Mexican restaurant; Lafourche Parish Library, the Parish library; and Bayou Lafourche Jiu Jitsu, a local martial arts gym. Together, the four leases total 20,624 square feet, leaving a remaining 37,074 square feet ready to be leased.

The main corridor through Cut Off is Main Street and we were hoping to rejuvenate the community.  This center has high visibility from East Main Street and is located midway between Port Fourchon and Raceland.  A unique feature of this shopping center is its proximity to the LOOP which offers the only deep-water port capable of offloading very large and ultra large crude carriers and supplies 18% of total US oil.
